On Saturday Sydney tested for her green belt. She passed with flying colors. We are so proud of her and how far she has come in Tae Kwon Do in the past 8 months. Afterwards we had a lunch with all the members of her class and their families. It was fun to meet and see all of them. This is her teacher, Master Goonan.
These are the boys that are the same belt level as her. They have been advancing together since no-belts.
Saturday was also my mom's birthday. It was a big one. Can anyone guess how old she is? Mom and Dad came to our house for some cake and ice cream. They had been out of town Friday night so they asked Brynn to give them their own dance show. She was more than happy to oblige. After seeing the dance one time through, Grandma and Grandpa decided they wanted to join it. Seriously some times I don't know what happened to the strict, seemingly grouchy parents I thought I had. My kids will probably think the same thing some day.
I finished sewing the girls' Easter dresses. Only 3 months late! They looked cute.

Oh and just as a side note: To all of you who doubted out ability to trash our house, here is what the girls' room looked like at the end of The Official Week of Doing Nothing:

1. Way to go, Brynnie! You look absolutely stunning in your pretty ballet attire.
2. Way to go, Syd! I'm so impressed that you can kick trash like that! (Is it okay that I just said "kick trash" in a conversation with your eight-year-old?)
3. 50. My guess is 50.
4. I love the "date" idea and know they will cherish those memories of one-on-one (or, er, two?) time. My parents did something like this- or at least once they did. I still remember it. I'm pretty sure I was three.
5. Holy cow. You were right. What slobs you all are! ;)
xo
6. Sorry for the excessive commentary.
Now that's what I call a MESS! Nicely done.
I'm so glad your kids made a mess! I think I like you more now.
Cute dance and tae kwon do pics. Your kids have such beautiful smiles.
When they saw the bedroom picture, Savannah and Gabe said, "It looks the same as our rooms!"
It was fun to see them doing their thing with their talents. They are such super cool kids!
I love that Brynn taught Grandma and Grandpa the "walk in the sun" move! I LOVE the trashed room too!
Hey, wait a minute... Did you change the pictures behind your dining table? Did YOU take those pictures?!! I NEED to see some close ups please!
Well done, Brynn -- I love your dress!
Congratulations, Syd -- I am so impressed with your Tae Kwon Do skills!
Sounds like the week of doing nothing was followed by the week of doing tons of stuff!
I agree with Katie -- we need more info about the pictures behind the dining room table.
I don't know why but I cried reading this post and seeing the videos. I miss your girls. I wish I lived closer to you.
Love you guys. You are all so beautiful (you too Shawn!)
What a post!! That room looks like our upstairs play room. At least yours only looks like that at special times like doing nothing... ours always looks like that! Your girls are so cute and talented!
